What led you to recognize the gap in the market that Argent now fills?
I was in a corporate job when I came across a study showing that a woman’s appearance, including clothing, can impact her career-long earnings. I quit my job and saw an opportunity to solve a real problem, both through product and a broader mission to remove the barriers to a woman’s success.

How did your own journey shape the idea that women shouldn't choose between style and functionality?
There were so many small but hugely impactful opportunities to improve women’s workwear—something as simple as having functional pockets in a blazer. These details matter. I wanted to design clothing that respected the pace and demands of women’s lives while still allowing them to feel like themselves.

She’s confident, unapologetic and incredibly time-constrained. She’s doing meaningful work, and values style, but doesn’t have the time to overthink getting dressed. She wants intuitive pieces that work together easily and make her feel confident. We’re constantly evolving to meet her needs.

What advice would you give to women aspiring to build purpose-driven businesses?
Like many industries, fashion is still largely male-led. One thing that has helped us is taking the time to understand how the industry operates and learning the rules of the playing field. That said, much of our success has come from being willing to build something differently when we saw a better way forward.
